Who We Are
The Special Forces Association (SFA) Chapter 84 is an active 501.C.3 non-profit veteran organization operating in vicinity of Hampton Roads, VA. As part of the SFA’s Region III: Mid-Atlantic, Chapter 84 has 50+ Special Forces (SF) “Green Berets” and Associate members, whose backgrounds range from the Cold War, Vietnam, Iran-Iraq War, and the Global War on Terrorism including Afghanistan, Iraq, to other unnamed conflicts which include a multitude of countries across the globe. Our brand “The quiet professionals” is important to us, as is our Latin motto “De Oppresso Liber,” meaning, “free the oppressed.”

 

Our Purpose is to serve the needs of one another, our local communities, preserve the legacy that maintains/retains its culture and continuity of Special Forces (SF) “Green Berets,” across generations, for the betterment of our country and fellow man.


Our Current Mission is to attract, retain and grow future military prospects across the region for the common good and welfare of the residents of Hampton Roads. Through regional advocacy and influence, the SFA acts to attract, retain and grow through support to organizations, high school and college level Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), area sponsors and the Federal government.


Our Vision is to be the unified voice for the Special Forces community, perpetuating their traditions and brotherhood, advancing the public image of Special Forces, and promoting the general welfare of the Special Forces community, honoring our fallen and fostering a strong sense of brotherhood among all who have served in the US Army Special Forces.

 

What We Do Established in 2003, Chapter 84 continues to focus regional efforts on preserving, educating and growing capabilities. We are committed to the general wellbeing and assistance of its, members, families, communities they live in, and organizations they work in. We promote each other’s professional networks, worthy causes and concerns, with our access and placement. We seek to achieve this by building and maintaining relationships throughout the Hampton roads area during various events. Examples have included monthly get togethers, dinners, SF/RANGER breakfasts, and conducting outreach at various annual events we support like, regional triathlons (June and September), Veteran parades, ROTC award ceremonies, etc.
